The Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz became the best at the Singapore Grand Prix. For the first time this season, a representative of the Red Bull team did not win a race.
The Spaniard started from pole position and maintained the lead until the finish. This is the second victory for 29-year-old Sainz in his Formula 1 career.
The Briton Lando Norris (McLaren) finished second, the top 3 was completed by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Another representative of the German team, George Russell, retired on the last lap, fighting with the leaders.
New Zealander Liam Lawson reached the finish line ninth, replacing the injured Australian Daniel Ricciardo in the Alpha Tauri squad. These are the first points in the championship for the 21-year-old pilot.
Reigning world champion and season leader Max Verstappen finished fifth, ending the Dutch Red Bull driver’s record 10-race winning streak in the championship. Verstappen has never won in Singapore in his career.
The next stage of the Formula 1 championship will be held in Japan from September 22 to 24.
