Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.
After failure at the last stage in Singapore (5th place), the two-time world champion started from pole and at the finish line was almost 20 seconds ahead of Lando Norris (McLaren), who became second. Third place went to another McLaren driver, Oscar Piastri, who stood on the podium for the first time in his F1 career.
Verstappen’s teammate and closest competitor in the championship, Sergio Perez, retired. Nevertheless, Red Bull won the Constructors’ Championship in Japan – the sixth in the team’s history and the second in a row.
In the individual championship, Verstappen leads with 400 points, Perez is second (223), Lewis Hamilton is third (190).
The next stage will take place in Qatar on October 6–8 and will include a sprint.
