Verstappen ahead of Leclerc in the fight for pole at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the session ended early due to rain

Three-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen won pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Dutch Red Bull driver was one of the first to set the time in the final qualifying segment and topped the final protocol. The second was Monegasque Charles Leclerc from Ferrari, the top 3 was completed by Canadian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin).

The drivers had only one attempt to set the time in the final session, after which a downpour hit the track. The stewards waved red flags 4 minutes before the end of qualifying and the session was not resumed.

On Saturday, sprint qualifying and sprint race will be held at the Interlagos track. The results of Friday’s qualifying form the starting grid for Sunday’s race.
