Verstappen won the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Perez lost second place to Leclerc on the last lap, but became vice-champion

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

For the three-time world champion, this is the 18th victory of the season and the 53rd of his career.

Pole holder Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) finished second. The Monegasque took second place from Sergio Perez (Red Bull) on the last lap.

For the Mexican, this is the first podium since the Italian Grand Prix in September. Perez, one stage before the end of the season, guaranteed himself second place in the individual competition.

Las Vegas hosted the Formula 1 Grand Prix for the first time since 1982.

Verstappen, who won the championship ahead of schedule, has 549 points, Perez has 273. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who is in third place, has 232 points.

The 2023 season will end at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will take place on November 26–28.
