Spanish Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso admitted that he sacrificed a lot for a successful career in Formula 1.

The 42-year-old Spaniard is a two-time world champion of the series (2005 and 2006), he continues to compete in the championship, being the oldest participant.

– Of course, you have to sacrifice something, and sometimes you realize it right away, and sometimes you understand it only after five years. These could be things you’d like to do or family and friends you don’t see as often as you’d like.

I am a family man, I love spending time with my loved ones. I once thought that at this age I would already have a family, children and all that, but it turned out that at 42 I still don’t have children. At the same time, I do what I like and do best. I’ve never tried anything other than motorsport. Therefore, when I look in the mirror in the morning, I am happy with who I am and what I do,” the Aston Martin press service quotes Alonso as saying.

Alonso’s current contract with Aston Martin expires at the end of 2024. The new Formula 1 season starts in March.
