Former Formula 1 driver suffered cardiac arrest after choking on a piece of meat
Former Formula 1 driver Wilson Fittipaldi was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Sao Paulo, reports Grande Premio.
An elderly man suffered a cardiac arrest during a Christmas dinner, during which he was also celebrating his 80th birthday.
At a holiday dinner, Wilson Fittipaldi choked on a piece of meat and suffered cardiac arrest and was sent to the emergency room.
He has since been sedated and intubated. Doctors have already tried to remove the sedative, but due to constant spasms, this has not yet been possible.
Fittipaldi will have to undergo a CT scan to assess whether there was brain damage.
Wilson Fittipaldi is the older brother of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi. In 1972–1973, he himself combined starts in Formula 2 with participation in the Formula 1 World Championship for the Brabham team, and scored points twice at F1 stages in Argentina and Germany.
