The McLaren Formula 1 team has announced a new multi-year contract with British driver Lando Norris.

The terms of the agreement with the 24-year-old pilot are not specified, but it is noted that the Briton will remain with the team after 2025. Norris’s last contract was signed in February 2022 and was valid until the end of the 2025 season.

“I grew up with McLaren and I feel at home here, the team has become a family for me. It’s been an exciting journey so far, we’ve had our ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to fighting at the forefront.

The work that the entire team has done over the past year has been incredible, and I am confident that I will be able to fight for victories in the future with McLaren,” the team’s press service quotes Norris.

Previously, the media reported that Ferrari is considering Norris’ candidacy for the role of team driver, starting from the 2025 season, since the Italian team cannot agree on the terms of a new contract with Carlos Sainz. Negotiations between the parties have reached a dead end, as the Spaniard insists on a two-year agreement, and the team on a one-year one. On Thursday, the Ferrari press service announced a long-term contract with Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who is number one in the team.

Last season of the Formula 1 championship, Norris stood on the podium seven times and finished the year in sixth place in the individual standings.
