Mercedes announced Hamilton’s departure from the team after 2024
Mercedes has announced the upcoming departure of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton from the team.
The 39-year-old Briton will leave the team after the end of the 2024 season.
— The Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton will part ways at the end of the 2024 season. Lewis activated the corresponding option of the contract signed last year, the press release says.
Earlier, information appeared in the Italian media that from 2025 the Briton will play for Ferrari, where he will replace Carlos Sainz.
Hamilton has been competing in Formula 1 since 2007. He won his first championship title with McLaren (2008), and won the other six with Mercedes (2014, 2015, 2017-2020). The Briton holds many Formula 1 records, including records for the number of Grand Prix wins (103), pole positions (104) and podiums (195).
