Verstappen won the first qualifying session of the new Formula 1 season in Bahrain

Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen took pole position following the first qualifying round of the Formula 1 season in Bahrain.
The three-time world champion showed a time of 1 minute 29.179 seconds in his best attempt and surpassed his last year’s result of the victorious qualifying session (1.29.708).
The second time of the day went to Monegasque Charles Leclerc from Ferrari (+0.228), third was the British Mercedes driver George Russell (+0.306).
The Bahrain Grand Prix race will take place on Saturday, starting at 18:00 Moscow time.
