Verstappen qualified for the Australian Grand Prix, Sainz was second

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won qualifying for the third round of the Formula 1 championship, the Australian Grand Prix, which takes place in Melbourne.

The defending champion completed his best lap in the final segment in 1 minute 15.915 seconds.

Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), who missed the previous race in Saudi Arabia due to appendicitis, will start second. The Spaniard was 0.270 seconds behind Verstappen’s result.

The third time was shown by Sergio Perez (Red Bull, +0.359).

Sainz’s teammate Charles Leclerc qualified fifth. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) did not qualify for the final qualifying round and will start the race from 11th position. Alexander Albon, to whom Williams gave Logan Sargent’s car, was 12th.

The race will take place on Sunday and start at 7:00 Moscow time.
