Three-time world champion Max Verstappen retired from the Australian Grand Prix due to technical problems with the Red Bull car.

The Dutch driver started from pole position, but then almost without a fight let Spaniard Carlos Sainz take the lead in a Ferrari. On the fourth lap, Verstappen’s car suffered a breakdown – the brake disc caught fire. As a result, the Red Bull pilot was able to get to the pits, where the team put out the fire and rolled the car into the pits.

For 26-year-old Versttapen, this was the first retirement since the 2022 round in Australia. The Dutchman’s 9-race winning streak, which had been going on since last season, was also interrupted.

The Formula 1 race in Australia continues at these minutes, Sainz is the leader.
