Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the fourth stage of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix championship.

Second place went to his teammate, Mexican Sergio Perez, who finished 12.535 seconds back. The third was the Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz (+20.866). The three-time world champion won his third victory of the season; he retired from the Australian Grand Prix race due to technical problems.

The race was red-flagged on the first lap after RB driver Daniel Ricciardo and Williams’ Alexander Albon collided at turn three. Both damaged their cars and ended the race early; the Suzuka track fence was also damaged. The race was restarted after about 25 minutes.

The fifth stage of the season will take place in China on April 19–21.
