Three-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen and his representatives will hold negotiations with the management of the Mercedes team about a possible contract, reports F1-Insider.

The source notes that the meeting of the parties will take place between the stages of the championship in Miami (May 3–5) and Imola, Italy (May 17–19). The German team will have the financial means to attract Verstappen from Red Bull, as Lewis Hamilton, who earns €50 million a year, will move to Ferrari next year. Mercedes is actively looking for a replacement for the seven-time champion and hopes to sign Verstappen.

Representatives of the Dutch pilot can bet on the 2026 season, when the balance of power in the championship may change in favor of Mercedes due to a change in regulations.

Verstappen has been driving for Red Bull since 2016 and has won three titles with the team. The driver is now the leader in the overall standings of the current Formula 1 season, having won four out of five races.

The next stage of the championship will take place from May 3 to 5 in Miami.
