The family of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher received compensation of about 200 thousand euros after the magazine published a fake interview with the German pilot generated by artificial intelligence, The Sun reports.

German publication Die Aktuelle said in April 2023 that it had secured an exclusive interview with Schumacher, who had not been seen in public since a skiing accident in 2013.

The article was presented as the “first interview” with the seven-time Formula 1 champion and was accompanied by a photograph of Schumacher. Readers were not immediately informed that his lines were generated by artificial intelligence.

Schumacher, while on vacation in the French Alps, fell from a ski slope, hitting his head on a rock. As a result, the rider was put into an artificial coma. More than ten years later, the German has still not recovered from the injury. At the same time, family and friends try not to disclose information about the pilot’s health.
