Red Bull driver Max Verstappen showed the best time in the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix.

The current world champion and Formula 1 season leader completed a lap in 1 minute 5.685 seconds in his fastest attempt. The second result was shown by the Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri (+0.276), the third was the Monegasque Charles Leclerc from the Ferrari team (+0.370).

The session was interrupted by red flags due to technical problems with Verstappen’s car, who was later able to return to the track and continue training.

The race weekend in Austria will continue with sprint qualifying later on Friday, starting at 17:30 Moscow time.
