The American Cadillac team will compete in Formula 1 from 2026
Formula 1 has reached an agreement in principle with the American corporation General Motors to include the Cadillac team among the participants, the press service of the racing series reports.
It is noted that Cadillac will debut in Formula 1 in the 2026 season. It is also planned that General Motors will soon become an engine supplier for the series teams.
Formula 1 in a statement expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation and announced that the application process was moving to the next stage. Additional details about the new championship participant will be published soon.
“The participation of General Motors and Cadillac in this project is an important and positive evidence of the development of our sport. “We look forward to the progress and development of this project, confident of the full cooperation and support of all parties involved,” said F1 boss Stefano Domenicali.
“General Motors is a huge global brand and a powerhouse in the OEM world, and it works with some impressive partners.” I fully support the efforts of the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to maintain dialogue and work towards an agreement in principle to advance the Cadillac-branded team’s bid to compete in the World Championship from 2026. All parties, including the FIA, will continue to work together to ensure that this process moves forward smoothly,” said FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem.
