Verstappen accused Russell of cheating after the Qatar Grand Prix
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen condemned the behavior of Mercedes driver George Russell during the Qatar Grand Prix.
After qualifying, Verstappen was called before the stewards and penalized one starting position for blocking Russell on the warm-up lap. Russell gave his statement to the stewards. As a result, Russell started the race from first place, and qualifying winner Verstappen from second. The Red Bull pilot did not agree with the steward’s decision and accused Russell of deception.
“Of course, this is not the first time in my life that I have been in this meeting room with the people I race with on the track. But I have never seen anyone (from the racers) try so hard to deceive others. Personally, I have lost all respect for Russell,” Autosport quotes Verstappen with reference to PlanetF1.
On December 1, Verstappen won the Qatar Grand Prix. Russell finished fourth.
