Leclerc showed the first time at the tests in Abu Dhabi, Sainz was second at the wheel of Williams, Tsunoda made his debut for Red Bull.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc showed the best time on the first day of the Formula 1 post-season tests in Abu Dhabi.

In his fastest attempt, the Monegasque completed the lap in 1 minute 23.510 seconds. His former teammate, Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who has already moved to Williams, came second (+0.125). The top three was completed by the British Mercedes driver George Russell (+0.279).

Leclerc and Russell completed 134 laps during the test day, Sainz completed 146.

Japanese RB driver Yuki Tsunoda made his debut at the wheel of Red Bull, completing part of the test program together with Isak Hajjar. They replace the main pilots of the Austrian team Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for the testing period.

The Formula 1 season ended on December 8 in the UAE. Verstappen won the 2024 championship, and the McLaren team won the Constructors’ Championship.

The first stage of the new season will take place in Australia from March 14 to 16, 2025.
