Verstappen earned $75 million and became the highest paid Formula 1 driver in 2024 – Forbes
Four-time world champion Dutchman Max Verstappen earned more than other Formula 1 drivers in 2024, Forbes reports.
According to the publication, the 27-year-old Red Bull driver received a salary of $60 million, as well as $15 million in bonuses. Verstappen won his fourth championship this year.
Second place in terms of income was taken by 39-year-old Briton Lewis Hamilton, who drives for Mercedes. His salary was $55 million and he also received a $2 million bonus.
The top three highest paid Formula 1 drivers is rounded out by another Briton – 25-year-old Lando Norris from McLaren. In addition to his $12 million salary, he received $23 million in bonuses.
The top ten rankings are as follows:
1. Max Verstappen (Netherlands, Red Bull) – $75 million (salary 60 million + bonuses 15 million);
2. Lewis Hamilton (Great Britain, Mercedes) – 57 million (55 million + 2 million);
3. Lando Norris (Great Britain, McLaren) – 35 million (12 million + 23 million);
4. Fernando Alonso (Spain, Aston Martin) – 27.5 million (24 million + 3.5 million);
5. Charles Leclerc (Monaco, Ferrari) – 27 million (15 million + 12 million);
6. George Russell (Great Britain, Mercedes) – 23 million (15 million + 8 million);
7. Oscar Piastri (Australia, McLaren) – 22 million (5 million + 17 million);
8. Sergio Perez (Mexico, Red Bull) – 19.5 million (12 million + 7.5 million);
9. Carlos Sainz Jr. (Spain, Ferrari) – 19 million (10 million + 9 million);
10. Pierre Gasly (France, Alpin) – 12 million (10 million + 2 million).
