Tsunoda will play for Red Bull with the Grand Prix of Japan, Lawson goes into “Ricing Bulls”
The Japanese racer of Yuki Tsunoda moved from the Red Bulls team to the Red Bull, in the opposite direction was followed by New Zealande Liam Lawson, the press service of the Austrian Konyshny reports.
Tsunoda will be a partner of the existing world champion of the Dutchman Max Ferstappen, starting with the Grand Prix of Japan, which will be held on April 4-6 on the Suzuka highway.
– It was hard to see how Liam fought the RB21 boat in the first two races, and as a result we decided to change the pilot. We entered the season -2025 with two purposes – to preserve the title of world champion among riders and return the championship title among designers, and this is a purely sports solution. We understand that we still have a lot of work with RB21, and Yuki’s experience will be very useful for the development of the current machine. We welcome him to the team and look forward to when he sits behind the wheel of RB21.
We are obliged to protect and develop Liam, and together we understand that after such a difficult start it makes sense to act quickly so that Liam can gain experience, continuing his career in Formula 1 in “Rating Bulls” – in the team and the environment that he knows well, ”said Christian Horner, head of Red Bull.
Lawson did not finish in the race of the Grand Prix of Australia, and in China took 12th place. Tsunoda, who debuted in Formula 1 in 2021, showed the 12th and 16th results in races, respectively, in the first two stages of the season. The Japanese scored three points thanks to the sixth place in the sprint race in the framework of the Grand Prix of China.
