Fersstappen after the Grand Prix of Spain remained one penalty point until automatic disqualification

The current Formula -1 champion Pilot “Red Bull” Max Fertappen received three penalties for a collision with George Russell from Mercedes during the Grand Prix of Spain, the press service of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday. The Dutch racer finished the fifth, but a 10 -second fine was imposed on him for becoming the culprit of the incident involving Russell.

– Stuards studied the data of positioning systems, video, timing, telemetry and video from the car. It became clear from the radio converters that Vermstappen received a request from his team to return the position of Russell for the fact that they considered a violation by Fersstappen earlier during the race. Later we decided that we would not take any further actions for this incident.

Fersstappen was clearly dissatisfied with his team’s request to return his position. On the way to turn 5, he significantly reduced the speed, thereby allowing Russell to envelop. However, after Russell was ahead of Fersstappen at the entrance to the turn 5, he suddenly accelerated and ran into Russell.

The collision was undoubtedly caused by the actions of the Vertappen car, so we put a ten -second fine on it, the report said.

Velestappen also received three points of a fine in the superlice, now he has a total of 11 points. If in the next two Grand Prix – in Canada (June 13–15) and Austria (June 25–27) – the Dutchman will receive at least one penalty score, he will be disqualified by one race.

Fersstappen takes third place in the overall standings, gaining 137 points, leads Oscar Piasta from McLaren (186).

Three Formula 1 teams filed a lawsuit due to the possible technical advantage of Mercedes and Red Bull

The Ferrari, Audi and Aston Martin teams have filed a joint lawsuit with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) over the advantage that Mercedes and Red Bull may have in the 2026 season under the new technical regulations, The Race reports.

In 2026, Formula 1 will switch to new technical regulations, which provide for a reduction in the fuel compression ratio in power plants from 18:1 to 16:1. This indicator will be monitored off the track.

According to the source, Mercedes and Red Bull have found a way to pass the tests while maintaining the actual race compression ratio at 18:1. This could give teams an advantage of 0.3-0.4 seconds per lap.

— The regulations clearly define the maximum compression ratio and the method for measuring it, based on static conditions at ambient temperature. This procedure remains unchanged despite the reduction in the permissible compression ratio for 2026, the FIA said in a statement.

The FIA does not intend to change the regulations at least until the tests are carried out. Teams are allowed to update their power unit designs every six races of the season.
