McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have made official statements after they were disqualified from the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Norris finished second in the race, Piastri finished fourth. The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) canceled the results of both drivers due to excessive wear on the bottom bar of the cars. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the stage in Las Vegas. Mercedes driver George Russell moved up to second place in the final standings; third place went to his teammate Kimi Antonelli.

— Disappointing ending to today. We had to make adjustments towards the end of the race and we now know that this was due to problems with our car, which unfortunately led to our disqualification. We always strive to give our best, but today we clearly failed to find the balance.

Now I can’t do anything about it, but now we are completely focused on the race in Qatar, where we will try to perform as successfully as possible in each session,” the team’s press service quotes Norris as saying.

“It’s a shame that at the end of the weekend we didn’t score a single point due to disqualification. We are always looking for opportunities to improve our performance, and this time we did not succeed. “Now we need to reboot, focus and move forward to earn as many points as possible in the last two races, both tracks where we were previously strong,” Piastri said.

In the general classification, the leading Norris now has 390 points, Piastri and Verstappen – 366 each.

The penultimate stage of the season will take place in Qatar on November 28–30.
