Former Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil was arrested in Germany on suspicion of aggravated fraud and theft, Blick reports, citing Bild.

According to the source, on Thursday police carried out raids in Monaco, Switzerland and Sindelfingen, where Sutil was detained. The former racer was then taken to court in Stuttgart. The prosecutor’s office does not disclose details of the arrest. In recent years, Sutil has been involved in the sale of premium cars.

Sutil was given an 18-month suspended sentence in 2011 for injuring former Lotus team boss Eric Lux by hitting him with a glass of champagne in a Shanghai nightclub.

Sutil, 42 years old, competed in Formula 1 from 2007 to 2011, and then from 2013 to 2014 for the Spiker, Force India and Sauber teams. In total, he completed 128 races, his best result being fourth place at the Italian Grand Prix.
