Russell set the fastest time in final practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Mercedes driver George Russell led the protocol for the third session of free practice at the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Briton’s time is 1 minute 23.334 seconds. He was only 0.004 seconds behind championship leader Lando Norris (McLaren), who won both free practices the day before. In third place is the current champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull, +0.124 seconds).
Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin, +0.251) was fourth, Oscar Piastri (McLaren, +0.259) was fifth.
In the middle of the session, the car was crashed by seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), the last practice was interrupted by red flags.
The final stage of the championship takes place in Abu Dhabi on December 5–7. Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 17:00 Moscow time, and the race will take place on Sunday (16:00 Moscow time).
Norris leads the individual standings with 408 points, Verstappen (396) is in second place, and Piastri, who is third (392), also retains his chances for the title.
