Verstappen set the best lap in 1 minute 22.207 seconds. Second place was taken by the British McLaren driver Lando Norris (lag – 0.201 seconds), the top three was completed by his Australian teammate Oscar Piastri (+0.230).

Seven-time world champion Briton Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) finished 16th and did not make it to the second qualifying segment for the third Grand Prix in a row.

The race at the Yas Marina Circuit will take place on Sunday, starting at 16:00. Norris leads the drivers’ standings with 408 points, Verstappen (396) is in second place, and Piastri (392) is third.
