British McLaren driver Lando Norris became Formula 1 champion for the first time in his career.
The British driver of the McLaren team, Lando Norris, became the world champion in auto racing in the Formula 1 class.
Four-time world champion Dutchman Max Verstappen from Red Bull won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race on Sunday. Second place was taken by McLaren driver Australian Oscar Piastri (lag – 12.594 seconds), Norris finished third (+16.572).
Norris scored 423 points and won his first career championship. Verstappen (421) was second in the drivers’ standings, Piastri (410) third.
Norris is 26 years old and made his Formula 1 debut in 2019. The Briton has 11 Grand Prix victories, including seven in the 2025 season, and another 33 podiums.
