A street in the British county of Somerset has been renamed in honor of the 2025 Formula 1 champion, British McLaren driver Lando Norris, reports crash.net

Norris was born in Bristol and attended school in Street, Somerset. The pedestrian area at Clark’s Village in the Street is now Lando Lane and new signage has already been installed.

“Lando is a local hero, and we are all very happy that he became a world champion.” He spent his early years here in Somerset and it was during this period of his life that he took up karting, a path that would eventually lead him to become the best in Formula One,” said facility director Chris Davies.

On Sunday, 26-year-old Norris took third place in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race and won the championship title for the first time in his career, breaking the hegemony of Max Verstappen from Red Bull.

During the season, the 28-year-old Red Bull driver from the Netherlands earned $76 million, of which $65 million was salary and $11 million in bonuses.

Second on this list is seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. During his debut season at Ferrari, the 40-year-old Briton earned 70.5 million, of which the bonus amounted to 500 thousand. Hamilton had the worst year of his career and missed out on the Grand Prix podium for the first time this season.

Third place on the list was taken by 2025 world champion Lando Norris (57.5 million) from McLaren. With a salary of 18 million, the British pilot received a large bonus of 39.5 million for his first title.

Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has left his post, the press service of the Formula 1 team reports.

The 82-year-old Austrian’s contract ran until the end of 2026.

— It’s very sad that Helmut is leaving us. He has been an integral part of our team and the entire Red Bull racing program for over two decades. Thus ends an extremely successful phase. His passing will leave a void and we will truly miss him.

For me personally, Hellmuth, along with Oliver Mintzlaff, was the driving force in bringing me back to the Red Bull family, first to Faenza and then this summer to my current position in Milton Keynes.

“Helmut is a true racer at heart, he always pushes us to the limit, always ready to take risks to achieve our goals,” said team principal Laurent Mekies.

In the completed Formula 1 championship, Red Bull became third in the Constructors’ Championship, behind McLaren and Mercedes. Team leader Max Verstappen finished second in the individual standings after four titles in a row. He was two points behind the new champion Lando Norris from McLaren.

Marco became a consultant for Red Bull and other teams of the Austrian group in 2005. Together with the racing team, he spent 417 races in Formula 1, won six championship titles in the constructors’ championship and 8 in the individual drivers’ championship.
