Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc will lose positions on the grid at the Canadian Grand Prix due to the replacement of a power plant element, the press service of the Italian team reports.
The car of the Monegasque will be replaced by an electronic control unit (ECU), which will be the third this season (with two allowed). Exceeding the limit in the use of the ECU entails a fine of 10 places.
At the same time, the media do not exclude that the turbine will also be replaced on the driver’s car, which will entail starting from the last row of the grid.
Leclerc takes third place in the individual standings of the Formula 1 championship. At the previous stage in Baku, the 24-year-old pilot was in the lead in the race, but retired due to engine problems.
The Canadian Grand Prix takes place in Montreal from June 17 to 19.
