Vettel’s underpants laid the foundation of the new Aston Martin base at Silverstone
Formula 1 team Aston Martin have laid the foundation for their new base at Silverstone with a time capsule filled with various items and fan crafts.
The capsule was created by English students, the final layout was chosen by voting. Inside was a collection of fan art from around the world, a polo signed by all team members, a copy of the 2022 Formula 1 regulations, an AMR22 car detail and much more.
German Aston Martin pilot Sebastian Vettel put underpants into the capsule, which he wore over racing overalls during the Miami Grand Prix. In the United States, the four-time world champion reacted in this way to the innovation of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which demanded that F-1 pilots have fire-resistant underwear during races. Aston Martin co-driver Lance Stroll of Canada provided the capsule with a miniature copy of his helmet.
The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 50 years.
