The British Grand Prix promises to be incredibly hot, and all thanks to the local press. English journalists staged a powerful provocation right before the start of the race. The media threw into the public field last year’s interview with the great race car driver Nelson Pique, which caused a racist scandal.

Now a whole crowd can suffer because of one bad word, including Max Verstappen and the ex-wife of Russian racer Daniil Kvyat. Will they all be excommunicated from the sport?

Hamilton is angry

Pique gave his scandalous interview in November 2021, when Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were desperately fighting for the title. Nelson, commenting on their collision at the Silverstone race, drove Lewis hard (in many respects on business) and called him “neguinho”. In Portuguese, this word can mean both the scandalous “Negro”, and just the word “guy”.

Later, the Brazilian Pique apologized to Hamilton, but emphasized that he did not mean anything racist, noting that he was simply translated incorrectly. Actually, he had every right to do so, because it is really not clear from the context what meaning could be used here. But, of course, Piquet’s apology didn’t sit well with the British press, which fanned the story right into their home and Hamilton’s British Grand Prix.

Do you believe that the interview from half a year ago accidentally surfaced during the days of the race in Britain? Adequate people from the world of motorsport do not believe either, but their voices were drowned out by the general British discontent. Journalists broke loose and suddenly began to feel sorry for Hamilton and criticize Piquet.

Lewis himself reposted the post on social media, where one of the users wrote the following: “Who the hell is this damn Nelson Pique?” The Briton was very hurt by the words of the champion, and he began to tell how he had been insulted all his life on the basis of the color of racism.

Of course, no one in their right mind supports such things, but it begs the question why no one allows for the possibility that Nelson Piquet may indeed have been mistranslated. And he doesn’t think why this interview came to light right now.

Why it concerns Verstappen

But this is just the beginning of the story. BBC Sport journalist Andrew Benson has revealed that Pique will no longer be allowed into the Formula 1 paddock. It is likely that the ban will extend to his family. The fact is that his nephew Rodrigo made a publication in which there were the following words: “My grandmother, mom of dad and uncle, called us all “neguinho”. And she loved us. To hell with the hypocritical world!”

The next one is even more fun. This post was liked by daughter Pique Kelly, who “liked” the post. And Kelly Pique is dating reigning Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, Hamilton’s main antagonist. It turns out that if the ban on attending races extends to the entire Piqué family, then it could also affect Verstappen himself. Kelly regularly attends races with Max. Yes, until they formalized their relationship as husband and wife, but will the Dutchman be happy that his beloved and her entire family will now not be allowed to support him? And if they marry, will Verstappen not be allowed to race?

In the current world of Formula 1, this is possible. It is curious that Max Kelly’s girlfriend used to meet with the Russian pilot of Red Bull and Alpha Tauri Daniil Kvyat for a long time. They even have a child together, so indirectly this situation also applies to our most successful pilot in the history of F-1. The real Santa Barbara!

Fans, of course, expect a very hot British Grand Prix. And the comments of Hamilton with Verstappen should be expected no less than the races themselves.
