Russian driver Shvartsman tested with Ferrari under Israeli license
On July 13, Russian racer Robert Shwartzman conducted tests at the wheel of a Ferrari under an Israeli license, according to site Formula 1 teams.
Schwartzman, who also holds Israeli citizenship by virtue of being born near Tel Aviv, returned to the Mugello circuit in last year’s SF21. For the Russian, this is the second test for Ferrari this year, in January he tested the 2018 SF71H at Fiorano.
On Wednesday, Schwartzman drove a total of 130 laps, which amounted to 681 kilometers. He worked with cars with different levels of fuel, which simulated the conditions of both qualifying and racing races. The tests became part of Robert’s training program to participate in at least two Friday training sessions at the Formula 1 stages. According to the regulations, teams are required to invite young riders to free races.
For the last two seasons, Schwartzman has competed in Formula 2, where he took fourth (2020) and second (2021) places in the overall standings. In December 2021, it was announced that the 22-year-old Schwartzman had become Ferrari’s test driver for 2022.
