French Grand Prix 2022 practice results: Carlos Sainz sets fastest time of the day

The top 10 was completed by: George Russell (4th), Lewis Hamilton (5th), Lando Norris (6th), Pierre Gasly (7th), Kevin Magnussen (8th), Daniel Ricciardo (9th) and Sergio Pérez (10th).

Sainz made changes to the power unit and will be penalized 10 places on the grid on Sunday. Hamilton and Russell also made modifications but did not exceed the FIA ​​limit.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc set the fastest time of the morning session, stopping the clocks in 1m33.930s, 0.091s quicker than Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and 0s338 from his partner at Cavalino, Carlos Sainz. George Russell (Mercedes) was fourth, while Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) completed the top five.

One of the highlights was given by Nyck De Vries, 2019 F2 champion. The Mercedes reserve driver took the place of Lewis Hamilton and set a good pace: the Dutchman finished 9th, ahead of experienced drivers such as Daniel Ricciardo (10th), Sebastian Vettel (14th) and Fernando Alonso (15th).
