Verstappen wins French Grand Prix, Leclerc retires, Sainz gets fined

Dutch Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Formula 1 French Grand Prix.

He covered the fastest distance of 53 laps (309.69 km).

Briton Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes was second, 10.587 seconds behind the winner.

Third place went to another Mercedes driver, George Russell.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who started from pole position, retired on lap 18. Monegasque teammate Spaniard Carlos Sainz received a 5-second penalty for creating an emergency at the pit stop.
