Domenicali says Russia will no longer accept Formula 1 racing
The Formula 1 stages will no longer be held in Russia, said Stefano Domenicali, executive director of the racing series.
“I always say you should never say never—but in this case, I can promise you we won’t negotiate with them again. There will be no more racing there,” Domenicali said in an interview with Bild.
The Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix was held in Sochi from 2014 to 2021. It was planned that from 2023 the Russian stage will be hosted by the Igora Drive track near St. Petersburg. In the 2022 season, the stage was canceled due to the situation in Ukraine.
