Official: Ricciardo to leave McLaren at the end of the Formula 1 season
Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo will leave McLaren at the end of the season, according to the press service of the Formula 1 team.
The agreement with the 33-year-old pilot was calculated until the end of the 2023 season, however, the parties agreed on early termination of the contract.
“It has been an honor to be part of the McLaren family for the last two seasons. I will announce my plans for the future shortly, but no matter what this next chapter brings, I have no regrets and am proud of my work at McLaren, especially the victory at Monza last season. I have never been so motivated to compete and be part of the sport that I love so much and look forward to what will happen next, — quotes the words of Ricciardo website commands.
Last season, Ricciardo finished eighth in the F1 drivers’ standings. This year, the Australian is in 12th place. The Australian teammate is British Lando Norris, who has a long-term contract with McLaren.
The main contender for Ricciardo’s place in the media team is called his compatriot Oscar Piastri.
