Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk has officially joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Chelsea until the end of the 2026/27 season, Tottenham announced on social media platform X.
According to information from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, the loan agreement between the two Premier League clubs includes an option for Tottenham to purchase the player permanently for £75 million, which is not mandatory.
Defender Tosin Adarabioyo is also departing Chelsea to join Tottenham alongside Mudryk. His transfer to the London team will be on a permanent basis, as Premier League rules prohibit a club from taking two players on loan from the same team simultaneously.
Reunion with manager Roberto De Zerbi
The transfer reunites Mudryk with Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian manager previously coached the Ukrainian winger at Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk during the 2021/22 season.
De Zerbi departed the Ukrainian side following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, while Mudryk subsequently secured a move from Shakhtar Donetsk to Chelsea in January 2023. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are both major clubs competing in the English top flight.
Poor start to the Premier League season
Tottenham currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table in 20th place after losing both of their opening fixtures of the 2026/27 league campaign. The London club suffered a 3-0 defeat against Brentford in their opening match before losing 2-0 to Newcastle United.
Mudryk could make his competitive debut for Tottenham in the third round of the Premier League season, when Spurs face Nottingham Forest.
Return from anti-doping suspension
Mudryk recently returned to training with Chelsea after serving a suspension for violating anti-doping regulations. Following his return, the winger participated in Chelsea's pre-season preparations, making three appearances on the pitch and providing an assist that forced an own goal by the opposition.
Chelsea made the decision to send Mudryk out on loan to help the player rebuild his match fitness after an extended period without competitive action. English side Leeds United and French team Strasbourg were also considered as potential destinations for the winger, but a transfer to the former Europa League winners emerged as the priority for the player.
