Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has introduced a strict new set of squad rules covering nutrition, punctuality and injury rehabilitation following a disappointing season for the Spanish club. According to Spanish sports newspaper AS, Mourinho aims to return the team to success by tightening discipline both on and off the pitch at Valdebebas.

Under the new policy, all players must arrive at the training ground one hour before practice begins, without exception for star players such as Kylian Mbappé. Anyone who arrives late faces immediate punishment, consisting of mandatory individual gym work while being barred from participating in group training.
Mandatory group meals and nutritionist menus
Mourinho has also introduced mandatory collective meals at Valdebebas, requiring players and coaching staff to eat together at the same table. The Portuguese manager previously used the practice during his time at Benfica to help build unity within the squad.
Individual choices regarding diet have been eliminated under the new regime. The club nutritionist now establishes fixed menus for breakfasts and afternoon snacks, which are designed specifically to enhance the players' physical performance.
Supervision of medical recovery and season debut
Medical recovery for injured players has also been brought under tighter club oversight. Injured squad members must now complete their rehabilitation at the sports complex during both morning and afternoon sessions under the supervision of club staff, with external treatments no longer permitted. Mourinho considers these measures to be the basic foundation required for team success.
Real Madrid have already played two unofficial closed-door matches during a long pre-season campaign. The team will play their first official match of the season on August 22 at 16:30, when they face Espanyol on the opening matchday of La Liga.
