WTA 125 Bar (Italy). Preparation. 1/16 final

Katerina Beindl (Ukraine) – Danka Kvinic (Montenegro) – 4:6, 7:6 (7:3), 6:7 (6:8)

In the 2nd set, Katerina took the lead 3:1 but could not keep the advantage. The Ukrainian woman made too many mistakes and suddenly gave her opponent many points, resulting in 4:6, 3:4 (0:40) behind. But still, Katerina managed to even the score and then won the set in a tie-break. The 3rd set was no less intense. At first Katerina was *1:3 (0:30) behind, but Bindl evened the score and even took a 4:3* lead. Then Kvinic took the lead again and served the game at 4:5*, but Katerina miraculously grabbed 3 games in a row and turned the match into a sure tie-break. Unfortunately, Katerina was unable to turn the match score to 6:5 on serve and lost 3 points in a row.

The match lasted 3 hours and 36 minutes.

Note that a week ago Bindl lost in the 2nd round of US Open qualifier Tamara Korpacz.

In the 1/8 finals, Danka Kvinic will play against 22-year-old qualifier Eva Vedder (Netherlands, WTA 287).
