US Open 2022. 1/4 final
carlos alcaraz (Spain) – Yannick Sinner (Italy) – 6:3, 6:7 (7:9), 6:7 (0:7), 7:5, 6:3
The Spaniard took the first set with the score * 2:3 (40:40). Carlos took Sinner’s serves amazingly and now the score is *5:6 (0:40) on Yannick’s serve. It seems everything, but no. Sinner won the game, saved 3 sets of points and moved the game to the tie-break.
Carlos was the first to falter at the tie-break, giving up the pitch but coming back almost instantly. With the score 5:5, Yannick confidently took a point and went to the 1st set point. Game 3 started no less tense, but this time the Italian was the first to serve. Carlos took the lead 4:2, but failed to retain the advantage and had to serve himself to stay in the 3rd set. As a result, the score is 5:5 and the Spaniard is on a break! Then serve the set in favor of Carlos at 30:15 and… And Sinner’s break! The fate of the game was determined by Sinner’s tie-break with a score of 7:0!
Has the Alcaraz swam? It looked that way at first, because the 4th set started with a shot that the Spaniard lost. Sinner confidently took the lead, then floundered, the score was 3:3, but the Italian again took a time-out and took his serve, thus providing 5:3 *. Carlos awarded under 0, score *5:4 and Yannick serving for the match, score 30:15, N:40, first game point… First and last! The Spanish player returned to the game by scoring 3 points in a row. And then it’s a matter of technique – the score was 7:5 in favor of Carlos, the match went into the 5th set.
