Sakkari: Maria is sixth, a chaotic gap between Sfiondek and the rest in the world rankings
Maria Sakkari has fallen to sixth in the world rankings while Iga Sfiodek has made a chaotic difference from the rest.
The US Open is over and brought several reshuffles in the women’s world rankings all the way to the top.
The only thing that has changed there is the difference Iga Sfiodek has from the others. Poland now have more than twice as many points as runners-up, where Ons Zambezi now lies.
At the same time, Maria Sakkari dropped to sixth place after failing to repeat last year’s course in the tournament, losing several points.
Also, two athletes who are in the top ten set new personal records. Jessica Pegula is now 5th (her best performance so far was 7th) while Coco Goff is in the top 10 for the first time in her career.
Two more Greeks are in the Top200 for another week. Valentini Grammatikopoulou is at #194, Despina Papamichail at #197.
