Michaela Laki’s excellent course in the Australian Open “Jungfrau” and her participation in the quarterfinals brought her into the top 10 in the world for the first time in her career.
The 16-year-old tennis player stressed in her interview with ERT that she would like to reach the level of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari but still needs a lot of work, while revealing that the two Greek tennis players advise her.
What he explained in detail:
“A lot of people think that to become a tennis player and play in a very big tournament, you have to play abroad or come from a big city in Greece. We haven’t achieved anything very important yet that we’re aiming for. We’re taking small steps, we try to make progress every yearI have a lot of work to do to get as high as Stefanos and Maria.
They always give me advice and are really role models for all children in Greece and abroad. For better or for worse, tennis was not “heard” much in Greece. Now many children want to play with Stefanos and Maria. We are very happy to see that they are thriving at the moment and are achieving so much. “They give everyone a lot of motivation to try harder.”
