The retirement of Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz’s rise to the top of the ATP rankings seems to mark the end of a historic era in tennis: the pinnacle of dominance marked by Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic over the past two decades. Three legends, two of which are still active, with sufficient arguments to claim that they are best player in history.

Between the three they add up 63 Grand Slam titles (they are the three tennis players who have won the most major championships), 102 Masters 1000 titles, 11 ATP Finals titles and 17 seasons finished as world number 1 in the ATP rankings (only Andy Murray in 2016 broke them from 2004 to now), among more records.

Below is a review of it history of the battle between these legends, with more than 145 direct duels between them, and comparison of major achievements of three.

Who leads the record between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have played each other in 40 official matches between 2004 and 2019. And the one who celebrated the victory the most was Rafael Nadal, who achieved 24 wins to the Swiss’ 16.

Nadal won the first match, a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the Miami Masters 1000 and Federer the last, 7-6(3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 2019. Semifinal of Wimbledon.

The Spaniard won six of his first eight bouts between the 2006 and 2007 seasons, with the Serb’s wins coming on hard courts in Canada and Miami. From there, Nadal reeled off five straight wins between 2008 and 2009 and Djokovic celebrated seven straight on two occasions, between 2011 and 2012 and between 2015 and 2016.

The champion of the 2025 ATP Junior Final Tournament has been announced

20-year-old American tennis player Lerner Tien (ATP 28) Became the winner of the ATP 2025 Junior Final Tournament.

The Americans were defeated in the final of the competition held on indoor courts in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Alexander Blox (Belgium, ATP 116) 1 hour 1 minute.

Lerner Tien (AMERICA) [1] –Alexander Blox (Belgium) [2] – 4:3 (7:4), 4:2, 4:1

Tien played in the Next Generation finals for the second time. He lost to João Fonseca in the decisive match in 2024.

Lerner suffered one defeat, losing to Rafael Hodar in the first round of the group stage in Jeddah. He then defeated Blox as well as Martin Landaluse, Nikolay Budkov Kjaer and Nishesh Basavareddy.

Tien becomes the second Youth Finals champion after Brandon Nakashima – Nakashima won the Next Gen award in 2022.

Lerner Thien received $502,250 in prize money for his victory at the Next Gen ATP Finals 2025.
