CHENNAI, India — Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Brazilian player partner Luisa Stefani won the women’s doubles title on Sunday at the Chennai Tennis Open.

Dabrovski and Stefani, the favorites in the doubles tournament, easily beat Russia’s Anna Blinkova and Georgia’s Natela Dzhalamitze 6-1, 6-2 in 58 short minutes on the Indian clay.

This is the second doubles title for Ottawa this season, after winning the Masters in Madrid in May. Dabrowski, 30, also won her 12th career women’s doubles title.

Blinkova and Dzalamidze beat Eugenie Bouchard of Montreal and Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium in the semifinals.

At the end of the day, the Czech Linda Fruhvirtova stunned Poland’s Magda Linette, seeded third in the tournament, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the final. It was the first career title for the 17-year-old, who is ranked 130th in the world.
