Tsitsipas sent Greece to the Davis Cup promotion playoffs
Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated the Tunisian Skander Mansouri 2-0 sets (6: 2, 6: 4) and sent Greece into the promotion playoffs of the Tunis Davis Cup.
Stefanos Tsitsipas scored his 2nd victory in as many games in a duel with Tunisia and sent our country’s national team to the World Group I promotion playoffs.
Shortly after Tunisia’s magnificent doubles win (1-2), the Greek champions ‘closed’ the series with an emphatic performance and victory over world No. 254 tennis player Skander Mansouri.
After only 61 minutes of play, Tsitsipas prevailed against the currently leading Tunisian 6-2, 6-4 and made 1-3 for Greece on the Tunis hard courts.
With this win, our country qualified for the World Group I promotion playoffs, where it awaits to meet its potential opponents in order to earn a place in the Davis Cup 2nd division next year.
Tsitsipas didn’t lose a set in the two days he faced Aziz Dugaz and Skander Mansouri in the two singles matches, picking up two crucial games to find a rhythm in the face of the US Open’s failure in the difficult continuation in the tour .
The national team’s other victory against Tunisia was achieved by Michalis Pervolarakis on Friday (16 September) against Mansouri, who is up 137 places in the world rankings.
Poland, Denmark, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Uruguay are some of the strong potential opponents of our national team in the promotion playoffs, if of course they overcome their obstacles by Sunday (18/9).
