President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev believes that Lyudmila Samsonova and Ekaterina Alexandrova are able to get into the top 10 rankings of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in singles.

Alexandrova, who won the tournament in Seoul on Sunday, has risen three places in the updated rating and now occupies 21st place. The winner of the tournament in Tokyo Samsonova has risen seven places and is 23rd.

The girls have been going up for a long time. Samsonova generally has the second tournament this year, she won in Washington. I am very pleased that Lyudmila has now taken the serious WTA‑500 tournament, where she defeated the former second racket of the world Mugurusu, two Chinese women and the winner of Wimbledon Rybakina – a good result. Samsonova has moved closer to the top 20, but I think she can be in the top 10 in the future because she is a strong-willed and psychologically stable player. You can remember her victory over Olympic champion Bencic in the Billie Jean King Cup, and this point was decisive in our victory over Switzerland.

Congratulations to Alexandrov. Although the tournament is WTA‑250, Ekaterina defeated Ostapenko, the winner of Roland Garros, in the final.

There are no leaders in the women’s round now except for Sventek and Zhaber. The remaining 15-17 people are about the same level. Therefore, let’s hope that these results are not accidental, and our girls will approach the top ten in the world, – Sport24 quotes Tarpishchev.

Among the Russians, Daria Kasatkina remains the best, who retained the 11th position. The rating is headed by 21-year-old Polish woman Iga Sventek.
