The head of the Russian Tennis Federation (FTR), Shamil Tarpishchev, said that so far there has not been a single case when a foreign athlete refused to take part in a match against an opponent from Russia.

How are our tennis players treated abroad? Were there any provocations or protests?

– The most interesting thing is that there were no refuseniks against ours yet. Everyone is playing. Even the famous Wimbledon tournament, where we were not allowed, was deprived of rating points, and the athletes supported us. And it turned out that Djokovic was second before Wimbledon, won Wimbledon and became eighth. (He burned last year’s points for the victory.) Despite this, they are with us.

– Shamil Anvyarovich, what about the Kremlin Cup?

— We want to make it in a format for our own. The Kremlin Cup also does not give points. It is impossible to hold competitions in our country. The 42 international tournaments that we had, including challengers, children’s and so on, are all banned. Therefore, we are going to hold our own tournament under the Kremlin Cup brand. With our participants, and those who come from friendly countries. It will be a tennis festival for Russians.

— When will it take place?

– We plan, from 16 to 23 October. The same dates as before.

– And there will be a youth network?

– Yes. There will be qualifiers. Who will fall, – quotes the words of Tarpishchev “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
