Federer: ‘I will be back at the Laver Cup next year from a different position, thanks for everything’
Roger Federer, in his on-pitch remarks immediately after Tiafoe’s win over Tsitsipas, said he will also be ‘present’ at the next Laver Cup, albeit from a different position.
Federer ended his doubles career on the opening day with Rafael Nadal by his side in a highly emotional moment for himself, his former Spanish rivals and the tennis world at large.
The Swiss tennis player spoke about Tsitsipas on court immediately after Tiafoe’s win, mentioning among other things that he will be at the Laver Cup in the new year but will do so from a different position.
What Roger Federer said in detail in court: “I didn’t expect to speak. Congratulations Team World, incredible turnaround. We went in with a lot of confidence, but you deserve congratulations. I hope you celebrate well.
My team enjoyed it, but sometimes we had strong emotions. I had a great time and thank you. Bjorn I love you. I hope that next year we will be close too. I will be close to both teams at another time. Your presence at Laver means a lot to me. Thank you everyone, see you next year in Vancouver“.
