Maria Sakkari lost a place in the WTA world rankings and is ranked 7th in the world as of Monday (26/9), while Stefanos Tsitsipas remained firmly at 6th at the same time.

Maria Sakkari, who will make her debut at the Parma 250 clay court tournament on Monday (26/9), lost a place in the WTA rankings and is now ranked 7th in the world.

The Greek tennis player lost 304 points in the final of last year’s tournament in Ostrava, dropping one place and moving Arina Sabalenka to 6th place in the ranking.

That wasn’t the only change in the top-10, however, as Annette Kontaveit (who had won the title in Ostrava) dropped to No. 4, while Spain’s Paula Bandosa rose to world No. 3.

From there, winners in Tokyo and Seoul, Lyudmila Samsonova and Ekaterina Alexandrova, rose 23 and 21 spots, respectively, setting a new career high, with the Belarusian now at No. 23 and the Russian at No. 21.

On the Greek side and outside of Sakkari, Despina Papamichail gained 35 spots and climbed to world No. 178, while Valetini Grammatikopoulou remained stable at No. 200.

Also for Sappho Sakellaridis, who climbed 9 places and climbed to 322, Martha Matoula was 557 and gained 12 places, while Michaela Laki climbed to 668 and gained 6 places.

A jump of 12 places for Eleni Christofi at #780, but also good for Dimitra Pavlou at #877 with 9 places.

Tsitsipas is firmly in 6th place

There was only one change in the top-10 in the updated ATP rankings, with Yannick Sinner returning to the top-10 and omitting Hubert Hurkacs.

Other than that, there were no other changes in the top 10 positions, with Carlos Alcarath remaining at world No. 1, followed by Casper Rudd at No. 2. Completing the top 5 are Rafa Nadal, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev, while Stefanos Tsitsipas sits at No. 6 in the world.

The Greek tennis player is followed by Novak Djokovic, who is expected to compete in Tel Aviv, although Cameron Norrie is 8th, while Andrei Rublev is 9th as wrist problems have stopped.

Mets tournament winner Lorenzo Sonego made an impressive climb to No. 45 and gained 20 places, while San Diego tournament-winning Jason Nakashima climbed 21 places.
