Sakkari – Kovinic 2-0: Withstood and advanced to the final of the Parma tournament
Maria Sakkari withstood pressure from Danka Kovinic to qualify for the final of the Parma tournament with a 2-0 win in sets and now has a chance to return to world No. 6 if he wins.
Maria Sakkari (No. 7) started perfectly in the first set, but then n Danka Kovinic (No. 78) made it difficult for her.
The Greek tennis player withstood the pressure and after 1 hour and 30 minutes beat Montenegro 2-0 sets (7-5, 6-2) and thus qualified for the final of the Parma tournament. piLeon has a chance to return to world No. 6 if he wins the event.
This is the 3rd final this year after the two in Ag. Petersburg and California (Indian Wells), where he suffered just as many defeats against Annette Kontaveit and Iga Sfiodek.
Qualifying for the finals sees Sakkari move up to the 8th place of privilege in the WTA race and boosts her hopes of qualifying for the WTA finals in Texas for the second year running.
The world No. 7 is waiting to find out her opponent in the final who will be one of them Ana Bogdan (No. 53) and Mayar Sherif (No. 74), who will duel in the second semi-final. The final is scheduled for Saturday afternoon (October 1st) at 7 p.m.
