Sakkari: Difficult draw in Ostrava
Maria Sakkari found herself on a difficult path in the Ostrava tournament draw, where she will go straight to the second round.
The draw for the Ostrava Open main draw has taken place and Maria Sakkari faces many obstacles if she wants to repeat last year’s run to the final.
The 27-year-old Greek will go through the first round without a fight and face either a qualifying athlete or Karolina Pliskova in the second round.
In the quarterfinals her most likely opponent is Belinda Bencic, while in the semifinals Paula Bandosa will probably be waiting for her.
At the end of the table we expect strong fights with Iga Sviontek and Annette Kontaveit, who will form one of the most likely semi-final pairings.
Of course there are other strong gymnasts like Beatriz Haddad Maia, Emma Radukanou, Daria Kasatkina, Victoria Azarenka and Ekaterina Alexandrova.
